Our Perspective
Established in 1990 as Inkameep X-Country Ski Club, McKinney Nordic Ski Club has been a hub for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing enthusiasts. In 1995, the trails were relocated to mileage 27 on McKinney Road to benefit from better snow conditions, utilizing old, unused logging roads. In 1997, the club adopted its current name.
The club maintains 9 km of groomed cross-country ski trails and approximately 5 km of marked snowshoe trails. These trails cater to various skill levels, providing opportunities for both beginners and seasoned skiers. The Junction Shelter, situated along the trails, offers a spot for rest and socializing.
As a non-profit, volunteer-based organization, the club relies on community support for trail maintenance and operations. Due to challenges in consistent grooming, the club has collaborated with Nickel Plate Nordic Ski near Apex to manage the Ski S'kool program, introducing elementary school children to cross-country skiing.
